for those of you who know me, i have been getting excited about hammering cymbals, particularly cheap free ones. here are a few completed cymbal hammering experiments:

the first row is a pair of zbt hihats. the next cymbal is a 9" splash i cut out of a 16" zildjian custom crash. then i found some sabian crash in the garbage can - cut out the cracks and did some light top hammering. next is another garbage pick, some kind of raw bell crash. cut down the cracks to make a 12" freak bell/splash. next is a ground down 16" zbt crash (about 8" after cutting it down). lastly is a sabian splash that needed a little love. i succeed in making it sound a little better. good times with ugly cymbals.
